the 80's

This summer I saw a strong comeback of tight jeans, narrow shoes, and baggy tops hit the streets like a plague. Have we tried everything, and now on the recycle trail. Have we no more ideas that we have to start digging up old trends and styles. I think the 80’s was a time for woman to start to progress and start to take on the big men, weather that be in government or even in the office. In came the working mothers, the suvs, even working from home. The 90’s was a more polished state, we had a national depression, what with the recession, high unemployment and a high crime rate. Back to the 80’s, underground clubs, drugs and babysham.
Anyway my attachment to the 80’s continues with admiration to the era of expression. I so want to relive the 80’s with the technology we have now. That would create a humorous society that is affected by media.
Its all Over Now

Is love still out there, or is having a companion the new love…
I have seen the good times, I have seen the bad times, been through the wind, the snow and the sand, and guess what I am still here. As they say and I have said in previous blogs, what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.
As some one said to me once. I am sincere, top billing one day and closing the next. I change my ideas daily but I am nearly writing my memoirs, But I am still here.
I read something really interesting in a book last week, it says : If our ex partner continues to do things that annoy us, we must recognize that they are not breaking our heart. That has already happened. This is an important distinction. Unless we recognize this distinction clearly, every time they do something that annoys us, we will feel that they are breaking our heart.
I think I can say without fear of successful contradiction, life is life. Full of happiness, sadness, joy and pain. Allah will never give us something we cannot handle.
I have felt so low the last few weeks, regretting many actions, things, and words I have said. But I think letting go was the best thing I have ever done. Sometimes we carry around an awful lot of unwanted baggage in our lifes. We hold on to anger, sadness, pain, bad memories, and negative thoughts. All of this hangs over us like a dark cloud getting heavier and heavier. Yes we need to feel and go though the motions, I agree, we need to feel them, to cry and release all that energy, but we also have to let go, and embrace new experiences, accept new love, and make new mistakes. Its all part of life. I have honestly held on to some bad experiences far to long and am now starting to off load them, and I do feel better, I really do.
Honestly I am a much lighter now, and hopefully moving on with my life.

I WANT THIS "NOW"

wHAT HAVE you Done

Inspiration is useless unless you use it. Hillary has done so much. Affected so many people, worked on so many humanitarian projects and inspired so many. It really made me sit up and say to myself, what are you doing Omar. I always felt as though I should be doing something that affects people, (in a good way) ha-ha.
I also believe that you can do things that are beneficial to others, or affect people even in small ways. You may not even know. Sometimes by just saying hi to people or asking them how they are, effects them, and, and wait for their answer, many times a day we ask people how they are while passing, but we rarely wait for their reply. Ask them, and look at them.
Hillary spoke in her book, about so many people who had affected her, giving her good and bad advice. I have said so many times, that listening is how you learn. But sometimes I learn from speaking. I actually say things and think to myself, really. I that what I believe in.
I am actually really good at giving “good advice” but really bad at actually doing it. I spurn out all these words of wisdom that I believe in, but never do.

I need Sleep
What can I say.Remember the saying( I am here you and you are their, so one of us is in the wrong place) I do believe in that philosophy. I am kind of in between at the momment.
I have been having really terrible dreams night after night, and I know we have done the whole dream article, but I cant stop wondering why my brain is stuck in this negative zone.
I think when you get older you start evaluating more, and questioning yourself. You wonder why you did certain things, or acted in a certain way.
My question is, why do I like change so much..............

BAHRAIN 1-2-3 Feb

BAHRAIN -----01- 2- 3RD FEB..........
I can not wait till the weekend. Bahrain here I come.
I spend half my time in Doha complaining about it, and the other half listening about it, well a recent survey recently claimed that four out of ten young Muslims in Britain hate the country, and actually want to live under sharia law.
How about the priest son who ended up in hospital after being given a severe beating by a bunch of thugs who then wrote a rap song about the event and released it on the net.
Or the cancellation of 41 per cent of operations on the NHS because of a lack of sterile surgical instruments? Then there’s the 50 million wasted on replacing school blackboards with whiteboards, which have actually slowed down learning.
Should I remind you of the thousands of pedophiles, murderers and foreign criminals wandering our streets as a result of official incompetence and indifference? They too will soon be joined by 150 terrorists, including those convicted in involvement in the Omagh bombing, who are due to be released as part of yet another amnesty to shore up the northern Ireland surrender process.
I could go on, but I live in Doha, so no need to complain, or I would loose the will to live. Some of this must have contributed to report which has rated Britain as 37th on a list of best places to live, behind Latvia, Slovenia, Estonia, Bulgaria and battle scared Croatia.
Makes you wonder why anyone would want to go to the UK. It can’t be the weather……..

Crazy People (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE)

Crazy People
Ok, let’s not use the term Crazy, lets say a little (unstable-or insecure) its seems that I am either a magnet to these type, or I have just had my fair share of relations with them.
I am not sure what it is about them, I like to call them (UK weather) the metaphor is, they keep changing, one day they are happy, or love you, or need you, and then the next they act as if they have never met you. They change there feeling and emotions accordingly. I guess they are Fake in one sense.
Either they are insecure, or liars, or even have an even more serious problem such as Alcoholism. It’s so weird to be in the firing line of these people. They are very confused and show different faces.
A friend of mine in London recently broke up with his girlfriend, he said she just changed, from one day to the next, one minute he was the love of her life the next he was her enemy, that sounds scary to me, but hey, its either a life of calmness and predictability or a life of Hell, and heaven at the same time. You choose.

Update...

Can you believe it is 2007, well don’t start making resolutions and plans to change or stop smoking, because they always fail, or do they, I have surprisingly surprised myself this year. I made a few little points to change certain things, and have actually stuck by them.
Firstly the exercise, I am now a daily Yoga addict, my brother showed me some new and interesting poses over the New Year period in London, and am practicing daily. Secondly I have Cut Out 85% of my consumption of carbonated drinks.
Then What
I spend 6 hours analyzing my friendships on a plane trip from London to Bahrain during New Years Eve.
I realized that some of the people I know, just take, take, take and take. I am speaking in many terms, energy, financial, favors and so on. They never give back, and you know what I am tired of fitting into their schedules and times, I am no longer going to be saddened by their selfishness, it’s really simple, just politely cut them out of your life. Just be polite and kind, but stop spending time and energy with them.
I know a couple pf people like that, they would drop you easily if a better deal came up, would kill for an invite to a restaurant or any kind of attention. Kind of lost, but I always seem to be the one in the background, well you know what I don’t need that energy, or to be around always till something better comes along, always wasting my money on going out…..
Meeting New people
Meeting new people is healthy; it can be inspiring, challenging and also intriguing. The last few weeks I seemed to of met kind a few new characters through friends and so on, I met a really interesting couple from Bahrain, they are both cousins, Ahmed and Zeina, they studied in the US and both of them travel together, if your reading this, (hey, cant wait to see you both, thanks for the great time we had in London) anyway they have inspired me in so many ways, and have invited me to the US with them in the summer, I am really considering going with them. Its so nice to meet open minded people, not just free people, I mean people with whom you can enjoy a really healthy intellectual conversation, without having to be careful of your next word and so on.
I also met a very nice girl, of course wrong nationality and culture, hopefully will never get the site address and know I am talking about her, but she is real cute, very clever and Mashalla really beautiful.
Anyway like I said earlier, try to stick to your new resolutions, if you didn’t start on Jan 1st, start today, really make a pact to change the things you don’t like, cut out the negative vibes, believe me, you will feel and notice the difference.

London Cold.

Hello from London Town.
I finally made it out of Doha. Arrived in London on the 25th evening, after a short halt in Bahrain. Arrived in London early morning to be greeted at home by all the family all dressed up and excted to have a day of fun, eating and Games, yes more about that later. I was dead, absolutely knackered as i had met some cool people on the plane and had spent seven ours chatting and laughing. Anyhow I quickly had a shower, put on a nice shirt and Jeans and it was straight out in the soft top with Mum, dad and the rest and two other cars following. Straight into Selfridges where all the fighting began, the sales had began and we were all determined to get the best. Brother wanted a 40 inch flat screen, me, I wanted Fendi trainers which i didnt get, and mum for some reason got it in her head that she wanted a pair of Jummy Choo shoes, god knows where that came from, she is quickly becoming an Amelda Marcus of the famly.
After a couple of hours we were so tired and hungry that we literaly left selfridges car park and headed straight home where we ate the most deliciouse meal of what i would say the Year. Everything was on the table, from Turkey to smoked salmon, and cranberry stufing made with nuts. We all then proceeded to have a long nap and woke up to my dads table of sweets. It was amazing, all the rest of the family came round, all the cousins and uncles, little arabia you could call it. And here is the weirdest thing, THE REALIZATION THAT I WAS ACTUALLY ENJOYING IT. Then cam out the games, fucking hillarious.
Yesterday I went to meet my friend from Qatar, Ibs. We went to a nice reastaurant in Knightsbridge. It was good. I had Kouzi and Ibs had kebabs JoJeh.
Anyway today is shopping again, and its just spo nice to sleep and eat, I also went to the gym yesterday with my bro and tomorow I have Yoga at Canary Warf.

Doha Asian Games, 2006

The Games of Your Lifes..It is probably the truest thing i have ever heard, the Games of your Life. Well what with the roads all pulled up, all the diversions, and no turning left.. Have you noticed that you can never turn left.... its so weird hahahah.
Anyway I thought David Atkins put on an amzing feast for the Eye'e. The Closing ceremony was way better than the Opening, probablt down to not raining, infact the weather was amazing, not even cold.
I was with my friends and they thought it was super. Did you know that the screen behind is the biggest in the world. Madonna previously held the record.
Well done all you. I have a lot of friends at the Asian games, and I am going to be really sad to see them all go.

I was dozing on and off whilst having vivid dreams. The strange thing is, most of my dreams come true. Our dreams combine verbal, visual and emotional stimuli into a sometimes broken, nonsensical but often entertaining story line, me personally, its only the bad dreams that come true. It is said that we can sometimes even solve problems in our sleep. Or can we? I have searched the net, and many experts disagree on exactly what the purpose of our dreams might be. Are they strictly random brain impulses, or are our brains actually working through issues from our daily life while we sleep -- as a sort of coping mechanism? Should we even bother to interpret our dreams? Many say yes, that we have a great deal to learn from our dreams. One of the theories that I liked when I reserached this was of Dr. Freuds, who's theories are based on the idea of repressed longing -- the desires that we aren't able to express in a social setting. Dreams allow the unconscious mind to act out those unacceptable thoughts and disires. How many theories can we beleive. Some say your dreams are the opposite of what you feel or will even happen, eg- death menas birth, marriage divorce, or even vice versa. I guess one way of knowing how you dream, and how much of it is relevant is to keep a journal or diary, write down your dreams everyday and after a while you may see some practices or patterns happening. I guess your dreams have a large part of what you are feeling or thinking when you actually go to sleep.
Recently I ended a friendship that was not really working anymore, it was more of a bother than it was a pleasure. It has basically come to a natural end, and was so for a few months, then I dont know why, but was thinking about h
What's In........................
I will be looking out for these new shirts. D&G never lets you down. Ive just had a quick preview of the 2007 summer collection, it looks to cool. They have kinda turned a corner this year and reverted to the Red Indian theme. Amazing paterns, busy shirts. They have also followed last years craze of pairing sets of long necklaces with cool pendants or feather?......
Look out Sallam at the Mall. I am coming your way.

Sun or Rain.........................

I really cant work out if it is Summer or Winter. I put on a Te-shirt and freeze to death, so I put on a jumper and sweat like a hipo.
Is this the change-over. Some nights I snuggle up into bed with the covers wrapped tight around me, other nights im laying on top of the covers with the A/C on full blast. Hat or cap, te-shirt or jumper, shorts or jeans, jesus- too many questions.
Its raining hard today, this country (Qatar) was not made for the rain, the lack of, if any drains is a disaster, basically I was knee high in water this morning getting to my car. Its dull and reminds me of London. Anyway I guess there are few things to be excited about.
I miss the pool, and the sun, I thought I loved the winter, especially in Qatar, but no no. I am definetly not likeing this.................................

I have cut it all off.

The New Me........
I have finally gone and done it. I have cut it all off, so you guys, (you know who you are) stop complaining. I know, it really was overdue. I can’t believe I allowed my hair to get so long. Just look at the difference, I look so young again, in fact I really feel like the old Omar. If the truth be told, it was so difficult, always having to blowdry and spend time on every morning.
Last week. Now, as of Yesterday the 29th.

London I miss You
I am so missing London these days. Although I cant wait for the Eid holidays, I have a few little trips planned. I love winter, but I also love summer. I am definetly a pool person. My cousin keeps telling me to get out of the sun. She says my skin is goingto be like leather in 5 years. But to be honest I cant think of anything better than laying in the sun, reading a book whilst sipping on a mint coctail. But she is right, to much sun really does ruin your skin. I am sorry that I have not updated my blog recently. So so busy at work, so many documents to work on.Anyway during the Eid, whilst I am at the pool, ill be sure to start writing again. I have some interesting topics in my head.

Part 1 : What Face Am I Wearing ???
The Different Sides of a PersonWho am I., recently I had another long, yet very interesting conversation with my cousin. This time it was all about the different sides of a person, and their personality. Do you know that it is rare to find someone who is the same, all of the time, with everyone. We usually put on different faces and personalities to suit the needs or the expectations of the other. Now forget the idea of showing off, or acting. I mean really adjusting to different types of people, knowledge and surroundings.
Apparently I am good at this, as per my cousin. I am not so sure. I, as she has said can deal with people of all walks of life, whether they be royal, your average Joe blogs, right down to the cleaner.
Recently I started hanging out with a group of westerners, for you guys who know me, I usually hang out and chill with mostly Arabs, but I did start the whole western thing. You know you all pay separate at the bar, in restaurants and stuff. You don’t call late at night, you don’t just drop by their house without an appointment (you have to be invited) nothing wrong with all this you hear, it’s just different. It took a bit of getting my head around. But the biggest difference I noticed, and here is the subject, (Emotion) we as Arabs, or who have Arab blood, have so much emotion, or should I say, show so much emotion. I am not suggesting that we are true in the emotion we portray or give, but none the less, we show it much more. I never realized how much emotion we have, and that was very evident in my relations with this new group. They say the British are a cold bunch. Somehow we are. That’s because we have lived in a cold society where we as kids were thought not to speak to strangers, and why- well because in England many bad crimes happy daily, from rape to murder. It’s not safe to speak with strangers. You may ask yourself why there is so much crime in these countries, well lack or religion and faith may come into the arena, but that is another subject, or debate???
Anyway, back to Emotions. Emotions are very important, they basically drive everything in your life, from the buzz you feel, to the excitement something brings, down to the thought of emotion you might feel by doing something wrong, that is what stops you, knowing what you may feel.
Westerners are tough, they don’t show their feeling so much, not openly. They suppress them, and I am only speaking from experience. I think that being able to open your mind and not judge is probably the best asset anyone can have. I certainly don’t have that ability yet. I am working on it. I always judge, not verbally, but always internally. Now by not judging you are learning, because you are opening yourself up to new ideas, people, culture, conditions, heritage, history, even the future. Don’t judge, can we do that. Now its all intertwined, we are using emotions to judge people, what drives us, is it our emotions, or our judgments, we judge a person, create a profile and then act a certain way because we believe that is the way they should be treated. Do we show the workers here in Qatar respect, only some of us? Generally we are rude, and impolite, its evident.
Part Two to Follow; it will all come together-----

Great Car
Mohammed, this picture makes me laugh, you look so calm and cool. It reminds me of this summer when you were in my brother's car, and I was driving, the Audi tt, (manual) and I was driving like a lunatic, because I dont drive manual. The roof was down and your hair was everywhere, and you thought you were going to die, do you also remember what happened near knightsridge, LOL.People with Manual Cars: WHY O WHY
I cant understand why people buy cars with manual transmission, all that work, effort and concentration. Jesus, how do you manage to text....oopppppppss
Get yourself a car like above, the Bentley C. I am sure Mohammed will give you discount, heheheheheheheh
Open Minds......

Sal, I just want to say a big welcome to Qatar.....................you and Gav are great. I have had a blast hanging out with you guys. It is very rare to meet people who are so open to different cultures, reliogions and societies, and what I have seen from the both of you, is a will to try and understand and integrate into what must be a very big shock Culturally. I have seen you mix with the workers, the tea boys, the labourers and basically anyone, regardless of their background, colour, job or nationality. I like the way you always ask me questions about Islam, about womans rights in Islam, about the food and the culture. Your eagerness to know and undertsand is refreshing. I think you and Gav are a great pair. I am always here if you ever need anything...............Tea was good at the Ritz yesterday, shame Gav couldnt come.......

Bye Bye Von Dutch

Forget Von Dutch, that was last year, this year we have the amazing designs of Ed Hardy, these caps are amazing being worn by Madonna, Tom, Paris Hilton, and Van Deisiel to name a few. Check them out at Selfridges. I picked one up in Paris a few montsh ago, the black special edition with the Dragaon. Looks best when you wear a simple black te-shirt .
Punk .................you what
Is Punk back. Well in the last couple of years and seasons even, we have had the whole Hippy, Grunge, Funk, Glamour, Retro and now it seems some how that Punk is coming back. Doing the whole club circuit while I was in London this summer, I noticed that tight jeans, ripped te-shirts and bold colours are back in again. I was at Tramps and China Whites and found that the DJ's were punk, man woman who knows, they were really expressive individuals who have a statment to make, bold fashion at its best. Fashion is often used as a persons outlook, on how they feel, or see themselfs, it alsways makes a statement.
Converse, who would of thought that they could make a coome back, well they are in a big way. I managed to get my hands on a pair of special edition army style ones.
I couldnt belive my eyes when I would walk around and see these guys wearing skin tight jeans and shirts. Has fashion gone to far, should we just leave it to the girls. I guess we have really gone full circle now, I mean punk was about 10 years ago.
Anyway, do you have a pair of converse, No, well go and get a pair, they are well hip. Forget about the tight jeans, you got to have the right body to get away with them.......................heheheh
Chanel
I am not sure what it is that I love about this watch. But many of the people who know me will tell you that for the past two years I have been talking about this watch. I absolutely love this Chanel J12 watch for some reason. I have come so close to buying it, and have bought many watches since seeing this one; however I have never actually made the purchase. I have been to the store, even tried it on, and also located the cheapest version, but just never bought it, deciding to just keep it on my wish list for a while. What do I love about it, well it kind of goes against all time piece rules? I mean the material for a start is porcelain, which has never been used before, it is also white which is weird, I mean when have ever seen a white watch. It’s beautiful in every form. I love everything about it, it’s so graceful and yet humble in the same time. Get a tan, get a J12 and let the two just mould together. I think the plain ones look better than the ones with Diamonds. Anyway what do you love? and why..................................

Happiness
We are the same, we are constantly looking for the next high, to be honest we are lucky in the sense that we both have the ability to make friends easier than most, we both have been lucky in the sense that we have traveled a lot and seen many great sights, we were privileged in that we were brought up in London where we both completed our studies. But we still are not satisfied. We are ambitious, but as soon as we reach our goals, we suddenly don’t care for it anymore. We try to tell ourselves, Ilhamduillah, but we still always want more, and sometimes seep into this sorrow state of feeling sorry for ourselves. We understand that there are wars going on around the world, and that there are children without food, but none the less we feel sad, and wish we had done more with our life.
If you look for Happiness, you will never find it. That has been said many times over. Does happiness come when you’re a father, mother or grandparent? I can’t wait that long. I want it now. I want instant happiness. And it does happen, Ill be driving and thinking about all that I have. I am not rich, but I have most things and more, I don’t live in an amazing villa, but I have a bed and nice things surrounding me, I don’t have a rolls Royce, but I have a nice car that works, and takes me to nice places, and I say to myself, wow- I am lucky, Why would I want more, is it human nature to want more all the time.
I want to tell my cousin to just take it easy, to relax and let life unfold on its own, as it always does; Allah protects and guides us in every way. He never presents a situation that we are unable to deal with. Allah always knows what is best, and if it is supposed to be- then it will be.
The nicest and most meaningful things my cousin ever said to me was a very wise and passionate little tale. I was sad about someone close to me leaving, and she said to me, you know Omar, every person that comes into your life, is their for a reason, to teach you, to show you, to make you realize something, and you for them, they are their for a certain reason, for a certain time, and when they go, you shouldn’t feel sad, or pain, or cheated, or even angry, even if it was a relationship or a short term affair, that situation has happened for a reason, and people go and come all the time, into one anothers life.
This is a lot to take on board, but its true when they say you can’t plan love, or friendships, they just happen, and suddenly bring you happiness and vice versa, pain. We need pain, otherwise how would we appreciate happiness, or joy. The sweet is never as sweet unless you have tasted the sour.
To my dear cousin, your great, don’t be sad, you have so many great things coming your way, always live with hope, what’s around the corner, we will never know, but it could change everything.
Miss you so much. By the way I am far to tired to do a spell check so please ignore the mistakes.
Crazy or Sane...................

“One person's crazyness is another person's reality”
Am I crazy, ok- just a little bit.
I have noticed that recently, yeah I am a little different from the rest. I have what would be considered weird out looks on certain subjects, I have very outspoken views on many topics. I have unconventional methods of dealing with certain situations, and of course I blurt out whatever is in my head, (withoud thinking first). I am self critical. I know I have many downfalls. But I also think that my crazyness is a nice feature. I do things out of the ordinary, and I get excited at the smallest things in life.
Mohammed said to me recently "Your Crazy", and I said really, and he said "Shiwayaa" meaning a little. It got me thinking. Yes I am, but dont we all have a little crazyness inside us. We all do and say things that maybe the other wouldnt.
I love being spontaneous and courageous and seeing things and views from the other side, it puts a spin on what can somties be a very boring subject, situation or task.
Haveing a little bit of weirdness creates interest, it also creates dialogue, which is always good. next time you are having a converstion or argument or even an internal though, just reverse it, think the opposite, or just be on the other side, see where it takes you. Be a little risky sometimes, take the risk, you may fail, but I am sure you will get a quick high...............
Shoo, if your ready, your crazy............in a good way..............well just a little..........
Whats It All About
How old am I, keep getting asked for ID everywhere I go. Its annoying and frustrating, but also a compliment. I like looking younger than I am, except from 8 - 3pm on a weekday, when I am at work, holding meetings, or attending conferences. I hate the weird looks, as if to say why are you not at school.I am loosing my hair, thats a good give away sign. As you will notice, I am wearing hats a lot more often. People keep saying, dont wear them, its bad for your hair, it can not breath, how much of this is true. Can some one pplease do some reserach and give me the facts. They say dont use gel, it makes your hair fall out, yeah right.
When I had a few spots, people would say dont drink coca cola, stop eating chocolate, how much of this is balloney. I hate when peopel try to give you advice that is not factual and more over, just old wifes tales as they say in the UK.
I may look young, but I am old enough to know when you guys are chatting rubbish.
Chill out dude, I only asked you for your ID. hehehehehehe

London, summer 2006.
I had such a blast with the guys. We were out all the time, one particuluar night that stands out was the night at Tramps where I met up with the man from Dubai, Mohammed Habtoor who is currently still having a cool time in london, shopping, clubing and dining. Mohammed if your reading this, I want to tell you how jealouse I am that you are having an affair with my city.
Khalifa, I have got more pics, will send them to you later. Have fun at the madonna concert.........
My point is, I realy miss london, normally I am happy to get back to good old Doha, but on this trip I wanted to stay, and now I am back, I feel the same way. London is just so busy and full of everything, crazy people, smart people, trendy people.
When I was in London, me and Mohammed went for dinner, and met these three great and very funny ladies, who were visiting London. They took a few pics, and If your reading this, please send them to us. You have our email addresses.

Open Your Eyes
Cutie PatutiDo I look moody. I am not a moody person. Isnt it funny how we see ourselfs compared to how others do. Infact how we see ourselfs -is not who we actually are. We see ourselfs the way we want to be seen, but actually only after asking and listening to several people comment on yourself can you find the most common traits that you display, and realize what kind of a person you display, and worst of all, you could actually end up realising that YOU ARE NOT THE PERSON YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE...................................
Recently in a couple of clubs in London, and bars, I was told by a few people that I come accross snobby or arrogant, now I totally do not see that characteristic within my being, but it was told to me by more than three people, and if I can remember correctly it was said to me a couple of years back too.
So is that how I am portrayed, is that who I am. Maybe I am snobbish, I dont mean to be- or do I. Am I lieing to myself. I dont know. I definetly have no right to be. I am just an ordinary person, I have not achieved anything amazing to put me ahead of anyone else. So, you know what, take the chance to ask a few people how they perceive you, ask them to be honest and really listen to what they say--- it could be a real eye opener.
London Rocks Guys.....
