This is Amazing...with a capital -A-

You must watch the movie, or read,
The best-selling novel "Memoirs of a Geisha" depicts life as a geisha in Japan in the World War II era. The heroine arrives at a geisha house as a slave and becomes one of the most successful women in Gion. She is a dancer, a musician and a woman without a lot of choices. Her virginity is sold to the highest bidder for a record sum, earning her a place in geisha history.
It is a story of hardship, exploitation and tremendous success. A geisha is a woman highly trained in the arts of music, dance and entertaining. Geisha is Japanese for "person of art." She spends many years learning to play various musical instruments, sing, dance and be the perfect hostess in a party of men. A geisha, when she is working, is just that: the illusion of female perfection.
Many Westerners confuse geisha with prostitutes. Those who understand the intricacies of Japanese culture explain that a geisha is not a prostitute. A true geisha is successful because she projects a sense of unattainable perfection. When men hire geisha to entertain at a party, sex has nothing to do with it. A geisha entertains with singing, music, dance, story-telling, attentiveness and flirtation. She can speak about politics as easily as she can explain the rules of a drinking game. In a time when Japanese wives were excluded from public life in general, geisha were the women who could play the role of attentive female at business gatherings.
The original geisha were men, and they entertained all over Japan -- social restrictions dictated that women could not entertain at a party. These men kept the conversation going, gave artistic performances and flattered guests at parties thrown by noblemen and other members of the upperclass. In the 1700s, women calling themselves geisha first appeared in the "pleasure districts" of Japan. There are many takes on the origins of the female geisha
Anyhow, this is just a quick insight, read the book, memoirs of a Geisha, and go see the movie, at City centre or the Mall…………………….its good to know about this stuff…..

Ultramodern, on the last two floors of Kenzo’s main office, in front of the Pont Neuf, a restaurant in the sky with a view of the Seine. The decor is signed Philippe Starck, the menu Fumiko Kono. Halfway between Paris and Tokyo, you’ll be surrounded by Louis XV armchairs, plasma screens, a fluorescent staircase and a carpet of pebbles.

It is very Parisian, luxurious and accessible at the same time to all. On weekends, the Bar turns into a "VIP area" with great music and tasty Cocktails. My kind of place, well i have not visited yet, but I am so inlove with Paris.

Mixed ??????????????????

British Mother, Arab Father, a whole lot of confusion, feelings and emotions.
I am a mixed race 26 year old. My father is Arab, so I therefore have Arab genes and my mother is from the UK, which is where I was brought up and educated. I often find that when I am in the UK that I am treated and looked upon as an Arab or a foreigner, as is when I am in the Arab world, I am looked at as a foreigner due to my features and overall look. So often feel lost, and fit in nowhere. I therefore consider myself a citizen of the universe. Jumping from one place to another, with the aim of picking up the best of both worlds or cultures, picking and selecting the traits and behaviors of what I would consider to be a healthy mix of both Arab and Western life.Being mixed is confusing, not only to me but to others, some may say that I am Arab and have got a British passport; some may say that I am British trying to be Arab. I am basically just trying to be me, which is hard, I want to be everything and nothing to everyone, I am a Muslim, but a Muslim that was brought up in the UK, that in itself is a fight, a worthy fight in the name of Allah, none the less a battle trying to explain to other Europeans, why I can and cant do certain things. I am just jumping from one zone, attitude, language and barrier after the other all the time. I would just like to say having to cultures from two different ethnical backgrounds (parents) is confusing but also very interesting, I wouldn’t swap it for anything. I also look forward to sharing my experiences with my wife-Inshallah

I just dont understand

Can you explain the end to me, its so weird. I dont normaly read books like this, anyway so the final riddle leads him to the pyramid inversee and the mini pyramid just below that right? so what was it there that was to be discovered? i mean maybe it wasnt a cup per se but i thought it was something material that could be found that would explain 1) how it could bring wealth/power to whomever held it 2) why there would be a need to have some many riddles to hide such a thing in the first placebecause the impression i got was what he found was just an abstract concept (the whole sacred feminine thing that they had repeated a million times by the climax and resolution)...anyone help me out? I actually found this book really hard to read and undertsand, but i guess the movie will be here soon and that will explain a lot.

This is Disgusting.........

How can people eat this. Whats going on in the world? Have you ever been to the East, I love The East, but honestly, how can anyone eat this stuff. Its all over the place. They sell it in the market place, in the shops, even in 7/11.

A Toffee Flavoured Candy - which contains a real edible scorpion! Scorpions are said to have many health benefits, and are also considered to be aphrodisiacs, so even more reason to lick on this exciting lolly!
BBQ Flavour Worm Crisps - These tasty little snacks are oven baked not fried! The worms are farm raised specially for human consumption, and are fed on a diet of select grains and cereals. There is approximately 15 worms per bag, they taste very similar to toasted popcorn and are seasoned with BBQ. I have heard, Lol. Omar dont eat this stuff.

Monkey Picked Tea - Monkey picked tea leaves are famous in their native China, and get their name from the fact that trained monkeys have to pick them the name does not refer to a particular type of tea, but monkey picked tea comes from the leaves of wild tea plants that grow in inaccessible places, such as on high cliff faces, so to harvest them people train special monkeys

Anyway I am sticking to Mc-Donalds. Apparently its the same rubbish. lol

What a Car....................

This is a car, man this is a car, the colour is so amazingly powerfull and vibrant. A complete clasic, I want this car more than i want a Mercedes Sl55.......

Lamborghini Miura, widely considered one of the most beautiful coupes ever. That's why it was a particular thrill to see the Miura also resurrected for the 21st century in Detroit. Borrowing all the best aesthetic features from the original (naughty-girl eyeliner around the headlamps, black rear window louvers, high-fin tail), Walter de'Silva's updated design nearly equals its predecessor in beauty. The only catch? The new Miura is just a concept at this stage. That means it does not exist, yest, unless you have the cash to have it manufactured. Check this out..................Omar wants a Lamborghini

FROM SUPERSTAR TO SUPER LOOSER

Michael what happened, what is the deal......from Superstar, to poor guy......
I used to love Michael, but he seems to have just destroyed himself..

I can still remember watching Michael on tv when i was a kid, amazed at the moonwalk, thriller and all the rest, he was amazing, talented and extremely famouse, but over the years he has deteriated into a real looser, never learning fromhis mistakes, all the press about kids, all the debt. Look at the picture above, wearing an Abaya in Bahrain. I have also read the the hospitality shown by the Bahrain Royal family has now tired and he is no longer welcome anymore. This dude has transformed into a proper nerd. Just look at the pictures above, look at the nose.

I-Pod Nano

Look at this cool stuff. Ok so you have the I-pod, and the Nano, yes the best I-pod of them all, but you know its going to get scratched so easy, whats the deal, just two days after buying it, the screen is scratched and marked like its ten years old. Anyway here is the coolest belt ever_____
The I-pod Nano just fits right into it.....................

Me and Mohammed ( come on he is half Kuwaiti)

What a hard time, why cant guys get into clubs without girls, how can we get a girl if we cant get inside the club, it does not make sense.

Anyway Missing you S, when you coming back, you know who you are . Hope Dubai is cool. Cool jeans on the right, from Salsa, and then you have Mr. Cavali in the middle (Salam Plaza) mall. and then you have Armani and Deisel. Come on girls-call us...........................

VOTE FOR THE CUTEST......................................................................??????????

The best for Summer 2006 ( My Choice )

Look at this Gucci bag, made of Cow Leather, not as flexible as the stradler, but hey its cool for winter, below you can find the cloth version, with washbag, this bag is pritty cool for Dubai trips.

These shoes are amazing, they may look formal, but they aint. They are cool with denim jeans, turned up, with a white blazer, black Te-shirt.
I have the Viser and my bro took it. But the summer chain is cool for the beach, see you at the intercon this summer, or shall we do Ritz. Actually i prefer the Ramada pool, but somhow gucci is wasted there. The sandals are wicked, but need the belt to go with...............

Gucci does it again-----------------------
Look at how cool this bag is. It also has the shaving bag, or wash bag. I guess we will probably have to go to Villa Moda here at the Ritz-Doha or wait till we get a chance to go to London or Paris- or even Kuwait.

I guess its a choice, Vuitton, Fendi or Gucci. This year Fendi has brought out a terrible new fall collection, Villa Moda has it instore, sure you received the message, anyway its terrible. Its like a plastic imatation.

Mohammed Al-Mana

-Mohammed Al Mana-
What a man, well we all admire people, some admire singers, writers, movie stars and so on. For me one particuluar man stands out, He is also chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), a body that strongly advocates protecting the interests of the local business community.

You can always see Moahmmed around, at all the functions, he is well educated, young and very sophisticated in his manner. I like the way that he deals with people, as a business graduate it is people such as he that we look for regarding inspiration. A brilliant interview that he gave can be found at the below address. http://www.gulfbusiness.com/html/articleview.asp?cid=862

why I practice YOGA

WHY SHOULD I PRACTICE YOGA
OMAR
The short answer is that yoga makes you feel better. Practicing the postures, breathing exercises and meditation makes you healthier in body, mind and spirit. Yoga lets you tune in, chill out, shape up -- all at the same time. As I am a writer and most of my job involves researcha and choosing words, i often find myself with headaches or neck pain from looking at the screen, however i found that practicing Yoga really does help. It is not just a practice that exists for arty farty people. I dont even attend classes. I bought the DVD, practiced at home and enjoyed the peace that I really did experience.

For many people, that's enough of an answer. But there's more if you're interested.

For starters, yoga is good for what ails you. Specifically, research shows that yoga helps manage or control anxiety, arthritis, asthma, back pain, blood pressure, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic fatigue, depression, diabetes, epilepsy, headaches, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, stress and other conditions and diseases. What's more, yoga:

* Improves muscle tone, flexibility, strength and stamina
* Reduces stress and tension
* Boosts self esteem
* Improves concentration and creativity
* Lowers fat
* Improves circulation
* Stimulates the immune system
* Creates sense of well being and calm.

And that's just the surface stuff. In fact, most of the benefits mentioned above are secondary to yoga's original purpose.

Developed in India, yoga is a spiritual practice that has been evolving for the last 5,000 years or so. The original yogis were reacting, in part, to India's ancient Vedic religion, which emphasized rituals. The yogis wanted a direct spiritual experience -- one on one -- not symbolic ritual. So they developed yoga.
Yoga means "union" in Sanskrit, the classical language of India. According to the yogis, true happiness, liberation and enlightenment comes from union with the divine consciousness known as Brahman, or with Atman, the transcendent Self. The various yoga practices are a methodology for reaching that goal.

In hatha yoga, for example, postures and breathing exercises help purify the mind, body and spirit so the yogi can attain union. Pranayama breathing exercises help clear the nadis, or channels, that carry prana the universal life force, allowing prana to flow freely. When the channels are clear and the last block at the base of the spine has been opened, Kundalini rises through the spine, through the central channel called the sushumna-nadi, and joins the crown chakra. According to the tradition, the release of Kundalini leads to enlightenment and union.
Omar If you do yoga will you become enlightened?

Well…you might (of course, it could take a few lifetimes of diligent practice). But then again you might not. But it doesn't really matter because yoga is a process, and there's a lot of good to be had along the way.

What if you don't believe in talk about enlightenment, spirit and the rest of it?

That's okay, too. Yoga doesn't discriminate. Even if you don't believe in the spiritual side of life, you can still do yoga. Whether enlightenment, nadis, prana and Kundalini is literal truth, metaphor or myth is irrelevant. If you do yoga, chances are that you will feel its psycho-physiological effects.

Moreover, the concept of union has a powerful down-to-Earth meaning. Yoga helps us get in touch with our true selves. Between work, home and all of the demands and stresses in between, it's easy to lose touch with who we are, that core essence with which we were born. Rushing around all day it sometimes feels like the "I" inside is simply the result of the things we do all day -- or the effects those things have on our minds, bodies and spirits.

Ever say "I am hungry" or "I am stressed"? We identify with our conditions. It's like "hungry" or "stressed" is a name (Hi. I'm Stressed. What's your name?) As a result, our identities shift with our moods and conditions. In truth, however, we are not the conditions we experience or things we do. We are not our jobs or the thousands of tasks that make up our jobs. We are not the sensations or emotions we feel. We are not the car we drive or the house we live in. We are not "S/he Who Must Pay Bills." We are not Mr. and Ms. Stressed. Strip away the emotions, sensations and conditions and somewhere deep down inside you are still there. Strip it all away and you find out who you really are.

The techniques developed by the yogis to transcend also help us strip away the things that try to mis-define us -- the emotions, sensations, desires, achievements and failures of daily life. Through yoga we learn to develop a greater awareness of our physical and psychological states. As a result, we're in a position to better manage our reactions to the thoughts, feelings and responses we have to the various situations we deal with every day.

With greater awareness comes the sensitivity and skill to find and remove the physical and psychological blocks that often keep us from our true selves. We no longer identify with our conditions. Instead of saying, "I am stressed," we begin to say, "I feel stress," or "stress is present." It's a subtle but powerful difference.

Or better yet, we say "I feel anxiety and fear, and that's causing stress and in particular it's causing tension in my neck and shoulder." So we breathe deeply to soothe the anxiety. We review the events that led to the onset of those feelings, and in the process they lose their grip on our nervous system. We intentionally relax our shoulder and neck to prevent the stress and tension from building into a permanent condition.

Yoga gives us control of ourselves. It helps cut through the layers of mis-identities that arise in response to our actions, experiences and feelings. It calms the frenzy, clears the clutter and allows us to get back in touch with ourselves.

Yoga is union with self.

Or, as Patanjali, one of the great yoga sages, said:

Yogashcittavrittinirodhah (Yoga stills the fluctuations of the mind).

Tada drashthuh svarupe' vasthanam (Then the true self appears.)

However, yoga is not about self-absorption. Yoga is about being in the world. Although most books, videos and websites focus on yoga postures, breathing and meditation, the tradition also emphasizes love, compassion, knowledge and right action as paths toward union.

Whether you pursue yoga as a spiritual path or for its psycho-physiological benefits, yoga is a methodology for developing a deeper experience of your self and the world.

And it makes you feel really good.

D&G ----Whats New, I WANT IT

I hate this mobile. Nokia what are you doing? . It is the worst peice of metal I have had the misfortune of using. Yeah it looks great, its small, compact and very stylish, and thats why it is so unbearable to use. The peice of kit is so compact that you can hardly press the keys, the keys are far to small to be pressed with a full finger. The camera is lousey and terrible where there is no light. The ringtones are ok, but one vital component is missing: A memory card, so that puts a stop to storing videos, music downloads, or even tunes. What where Nokia thinking. This mobile is the most expensive on the market, it costs around QR.3,600. Basically keep away from Nokia, they are rubbish mobiles. Once you start to use mobiles such as the Sony Erricsson 750i - you will never think about buying Nokia.

However I just saw this amazing Motorolla V-Razor ( D@G limited edition in gold). That is so amazing, so where can I buy it. I want it....apparently only 1000 copies were produced. But we all know that Limited Edition means nothing anymore. Anyway If you find a place where I can buy it, let me know...............................
